Julian Assange has suddenly walked free. What happens next?
When the news broke yesterday morning that Julian Assange had been set free from a London prison, the buzz spread immediately through parliament house in Canberra.
After spending more than a decade in prison or hiding, what exactly, had Assange agreed to plead guilty to? And will he finally come home to Australia?
Today, foreign affairs and national security correspondent, Matthew Knott, on how the case that changed politics and journalism, forever, finally came to an end. And what the ripple effect might be, on both domestic and American politics.

When Victorian education minister Ben Carroll announced, earlier this month, that his government had mandated a change in the way teachers instruct children to read, he admitted that he was potentially “stepping on a hand grenade”. He was entering the long-running “reading wars”, which have pitted teachers, principals, and parents against each other. Today, education editor Robyn Grace, on why ...

There were two key witnesses in the Robert Farquharson case. The first was Greg King, an old friend of Farquharson, and the story he told provided police with something they desperately wanted for their case - a motive for murder. The other witness, Dawn Waite, came forward four years after the crash. She said she had actually seen Robert Farquharson on the night of the crash, as he was sizing ...

Just keep this in mind: if Australia decided to adopt a nuclear weapons program, who would be the biggest competition in the region to stare down? Indonesia. And they would have no problems throwing vast resources and man power into such a program that could end up being worse than Cuba on America’s doorstep in geographical distance terms. I’m all for Australia acquiring the bomb, but not until there’s a contingency plan that effectively deals and neutralises the virtually guaranteed consequence of our grey neighbours also pursuing the bomb too.

Who is watching this video in 2024
I hope that this person was identified and returned to his family for burial. When my husband was in the military, they found the remains of American service members in Vietnam and gave closure to many families like a childhood neighbor family of my mother. 😢
I wasn’t alive for 9/11 but now that I’m a teenager I realize how serious it was. I was at the chiefs parade shooting last February and now I know what it feels like to be glued to the TV all day, waiting for answers, terrified about who is dead and whose alive. I was terrified and 9/11 was much more serious than some shooting, I can’t imagine how scary it must’ve been. Prayers for the families, all these years later
Impresionante documento...¡¡¡ YEAH 😎😎😎
We are all going to find out one day, if it is a big total failure or not, time will tell. Heads will roll if it doesn't work. Besides, where are the real conservationists against this? You know who you are, those hippies from the sixties and seventies. Get out there and glue your hands to the towers, try and save something, no, you're in on it too. W anchors. Blooming lovely.
This is gold.
安うて珍しいもん手にいれて。うらやましおますわあ。ないと思うな運と財産、いいまっさかいなあ。
7 years later has anything happened?
The craziest thing for me is the fact that they meticulously planned for the world to be watching when the second plane hit 😞 by leaving some time in between the planets crashing into the towers
That tony guy is really interesting. Would love to sit down with him
I am not even an american, but seeing this just disturbs me for real but sad to see, now Americans themselves making memes and laughing on that that's just not a dark humour but just an uneducated trait...

Please keep saying, West Philippine Sea, don’t give china the leverage, by saying china sea, that sea between Phil. and Vietnam is open sea now we should call- East Asian Sea, ok!
I was a toddler in 2001. I faintly remember my parents being glued to the tv, I could tell something was off but I was too young to even comprehend what was happening.

This video should be mandatory viewing for every single high-school US history class, DAY ONE. This and the Howard Stern broadcast from that day. A lot of people - young and old - have misconceptions and/or political opinions about the event, without a real grasp of the tragedy and the emotions of everyone who actually witnessed it live. I was born in 2002, I'm American, and only now do I actually understand the full context of 9/11. Makes me mad to see how it's been brought into politics what with all the conspiracy theories; like in what world would anyone think this could ever have been done by the US government themselves??? There are so many criticisms now about how the event was managed, spun by politicians on either side of the spectrum, that people forget the immediate gut response of people living in that reality was to just nuke the entire middle-east. This is the kind of event that Americans need to be aware of and educated on, especially in a world like the present, where anyone can voice opinions about war, Ukraine, the middle-east, etc. Context is incredibly important in conflict, and emotions are part of this context in a way that goes far beyond that of statistics and logic. I'm not an activist, nor am I particularly disposed to finding out every detail about the events going on right now in the world. What I do know is that both the current war in Ukraine and in Israel/Palestine are indiscriminate, and if 9/11 and all the footage is any indication, any form of indiscriminate warfare is unacceptable, regardless of the side you're on. Heavy stuff out of the way, there's this clip of Donald Trump getting 7-Eleven and 9/11 confused in a speech and ngl it was pretty funny regardless of your stance on him as a person
Guns and weapons are the primitive savages.
At 18 seconds you can clearly see what appears to be a visible shaved bloody head wound in the back of his head. Did they say what caused it? Also I heard that he had broken ribs. He could perform with the head wound but definitely not the broken ribs!
I remember Asling in pentridge and found him to be a good bloke. Lucky this bloke didn’t work in Pentridge talk about war stories he has zero idea about cruelty.
What a great actor, but more importantly a great man
A wonderful actor who did not rely on his ego for relevance!
Another fantastic actor leaving the world stage
Brilliant actor. RIP.
R.I.P Donal Sutherland eternal memory ❤🙏
Yes unfortunately it’s true….my condolences to his family….
:(
To think that the AKAI MPC's and world of DAW's all spawned from this technology years later!
Anyone 2024😢
[*] for all those who died on this unfortunate day. If your loved ones were there... it's very sad. Hugs to everyone 🫂
The moment with the news castings is so remarkable and realistic because it shows how quickly the event was covered
I have 10😭😭😭
One of the worst things to ever happen in american history. But as americans we stood together we united as a country. Its sad such tragedy has to happen for our country to unite.
His here voice is very haunting ..... may his soul rest in peace ...
Just EPIC
I am not American, but I remember being so devastated for them as a country. This event changed the world as we knew it. I certainly hope they teach the younger generations about what happened on this day, not just in America, but all over the world.
I've been SO CLOSE to owning one. SO CLOSE T_T Curse the day I replied "i'll have to make some space for it" instead of "YES!".
i’m crying watching this.
She seems very reasonable.
James is a great man and a hero. He truly saved many lives, especially the babies. The kids and their parents will definitely remember him as their hero when they get older.
What a scandal......the french were right, no armement of mass destruction, USA went to war just for economic and politicals reasons, Bush is a fu...g criminal of war!
The lost art of the sequel..this knocked it out of the park..hard to get right..
I may be mistaken but a stickered (like the one you are showing) or stamped promo record is actually just a regular pressing handed out to radio stations or reviewers. It would be an altogether different matter if you found a white label promo, a test pressing or an acetate of that same Jimi LP -- with the value of the record increasing in that order.
Absolutely incredible find.
Black is a fabulous colour paired with silver or gold trims, its elegant and signifies wealth, but you are so correct, it all looks bland, the dame and no artistic flare.
Thank you so much for the footage from exactly 60 years ago today. Great black and white footage, awesome.
Nice vacuum they have created. Sure hope there are no Chinese super labs & cartels to fill the gap
